Special Offering from CodeCraft Planning Studio:

Data Centers Are Coming. Act Now to Protect Your Community.

CodeCraft Planning Studio is pleased to announce a special service: I will develop custom language for your community's zoning code to help your community avoid the unwanted effects of data center developments.  For this service, we charge a flat fee of $5,000 per community and include the following:

  • One virtual kick-off meeting to discuss the scope and timeline of the project and understand your community's unique needs;
  • Custom text amendments to your zoning code, presented as strike-through and underline text;
  • One virtual meeting with city staff (including the Law Director, if desired) to discuss proposed text amendments;
  • Modifications to the proposed text amendments based on the staff meeting;
  • Coordination with the Planning Commission to place the proposed text amendment on its agenda;
  • One virtual meeting with the Planning Commission;
  • Coordination with the Clerk of the City Council (or County Commission) to place the proposed (and Planning Commission-recommended) text amendment on the City Council (or County Commission) agenda;
  • One virtual meeting with the City Council (or County Commission); and
  • One round of final edits to the zoning code per adoption of the proposed text amendment.

The entire process takes approximately three months, depending on the number of city council readings.  I recommend that the community establishes a six-month emergency moratorium on data centers while the project is ongoing.
